Teagasc Event- Reforestation Demo

Teagasc in conjunction with Coilte and the forest service, DAFM, are holding two Reforestation Demo Events.

The events will take place on Thursday 26th February at the Rising Sun, Mullinavat, Co. Kilkenny and on Wednesday the 4th March at the Community Centre, Feakle, Co. Clare.

Arrive anytime between 11-12.30pm. Guided tours will leave every 20 minutes and take approximately 2.5hours. This is an outdoor event so don’t forget to bring appropriate footwear and raingear!!!!

Teagasc in association with the Forest Service have organised a nationwide series of information meetings to present the newly announced Forestry Programme 2014-2020.

Teagasc in association with the Forest Service have organised a nationwide series of information meetings to present the newly announced Forestry Programme 2014-2020. These meetings will take place between 19 and 30 January.

At these meetings, the new forestry grant schemes as well as key differences with the previous schemes will be discussed. Key differences include that new forestry premiums will now be paid for a period of 15 years instead of 20; a significant budget increase and focus for native woodland conservation; a requirement within various water sensitive areas to include a Native Woodland Establishment plot; the introduction of a single premium rate (i.e. no distinction between farmers and non-farmers) and an improved forest road construction scheme with improved grant rates.

Harvesting demonstrations – 30th April

Ben-Colchester Meeting at Delaney’s Bar, Freshford Road, Urlingford at 2pm. (Leaving from Freshford on the Urlingford Road, continue for 4 km and Delaney’s Bar is on the left hand side.) Visit to a recently thinned site followed by a harvesting demonstration with a modified head at The Islands, Urlingford.
